Basma Abdelrahman

Dr. Basma Abdelrahman Ahmed, BDS, MSc, PhD, associate professor of Oral Pathology, Faculty of Dentistry Ain Shams University
Dr. Basma is an associate professor at Oral Pathology Department Faculty of Dentistry Ain Shams University. She graduated in 2008 and earned her PhD in Oral Pathology in 2020 from Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University. Her doctoral research focused on oral cancer therapeutics and their mechanisms of action.
Dr. Basma has a number of international publications in high-impact scopus and web of science indexed journals. Her research focused mainly on the diagnostic and prognostic genetic and epigenetic immunohistochemical markers besides the role of microenvironment in different oral lesions like oral squamous cell carcinoma, salivary gland tumors, and odontogenic cysts and tumors. In addition, she has a wide research on the role of different therapeutics including green nanoparticles in oral cancer. Moreover her research extends to the study of the effect of Covid-19 vaccines on dental and palatal development. Dr. Basma is a certified reviewer in a number of international and national journals besides actively participating in national and international conferences.
In her academic life, she teaches oral pathology for undergraduate and postgraduate students at Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University and Misr University of Science and Technology (MUST) University. She participates in the diagnosis of oral lesions as a member of the faculty oral pathology lab. She is a member of the Precision Measurement Unit at Oral Pathology Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Ain Shams University.
Her current research interest includes therapeutics of different diseases and neoplasms of head and neck and their mechanism of action in addition to unveiling different diagnostic and prognostic molecular and immunohistochemical markers in oral lesions.
