Prof. Jean-François Roulet earned his DDS from the University of Bern School of Dentistry in Switzerland in 1974 and began his academic career as a lecturer at the University of Bern. He received his PhD from the University of Zürich in 1986. Over the years, he has taught at leading institutions in Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Australia, and the United States.
He held several senior academic leadership positions in Germany, including Associate Dean and Dean of the Dental School at the Free University of Berlin, and Chair of the Department of Operative and Preventive Dentistry and Endodontics at both the Free University of Berlin and Humboldt University of Berlin. His connection with the University of Florida began in 1989 as a visiting professor, and in 2011 he joined UF full-time, initially serving as Chair of the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences. He is currently Professor in the Department of Restorative Dental Sciences and Director of the Center for Dental Biomaterials at the UF College of Dentistry.
Alongside his academic leadership, Prof. Roulet also spent nine years as Director of Research and Development and Senior Expert in Professional Services at Ivoclar Vivadent, one of the world’s leading dental materials companies. His research and teaching focus on adhesive dentistry, biomaterials, composites, ceramics, and minimally invasive restorative techniques.
Prof. Roulet has published extensively and is recognized internationally for his contributions to restorative dentistry. He is an honorary member of several international dental societies, recipient of the EFCD Award of Excellence, and a Fellow of both the Academy of Dental Materials and the Academy of Prosthodontics.
