Dr Salvatore Sauro is currently full professor in dental biomaterials at the “Departamento de Odontología, Facultad de Ciencias de la Salud, Universidad CEU-Cardenal Herrera”, coordinator of the “Dental Research” and Director (Principal Investigator) of the research group “In Situ Dental Tissues Engineering and Minimally Invasive Therapeutic Adhesive Rehabilitation” (https://www.uchceu.es/directorio/salvatore-sauro).   He obtained his Ph.D in “Dental Biomaterials Research Pre-clinical Dentistry” at King’s College London Dental Institute London, where he continued his scientific work as post-doctorate and then as research associate in “Adhesive Dentistry And Dental Bioactive Materials Research”.

Dr. Sauro has been working in research dental biomaterials, preventive and minimally invasive dentistry research for more than 15 years (Scopus: H-Index: 43) and he has published, in collaboration with internationally renowned researchers, more than 150 articles in international peer-review journals with high impact factor in the dentistry and dental materials field, along with more several research abstracts and lectures in international conferences. He has contributed dental material science by new research findings of dentine bonding systems, remineralisation of the resin-dentine interface and enzymatic degradation of dentine collagen. Dr Sauro has 3 patents so far and he was involved in 3 research grants and 1 as PI. Most recent grants and patents: “Ministerio de Ciencia, Innovación y Universidades (PID2020–120346 GB-I00) and a patent on the calcium phosphates tailored with different concentrations of fluoride salts used in this study (ES2716942/ WO2013014325A1).

Dr. Sauro was (2021-2022) president of the Dental Materials Group (DMG) at the International Association of Dental Research (IADR). He is also part of the “editorial board” of several peer-review journals and associate editor of the dental biomaterials session of the International Journal of Adhesion and Adhesives (IJAA). Dr Salvatore Sauro appears in the ranking of the Stanford/Elsevier’s Top 2% Scientist Rankings since 2019.
